Stop Before You Shop!
What do you think about when you see the words, “Buy one get one free,” “on sale,” “limited supplies.” These words are tempting! If you are anything like me, I love a great deal! But as I am cleaning house, I realized how much stuff I have accumulated and thought to myself, “Did I really need these things?”

For example, I have a lot of extra makeup. They can be found cheaply and on sale but how many lipsticks do I really need? Most of them are in the same family of colors. As do my eye shadows. In the end I throw most of them away!
Earlier today I was again bitten by the “buy” bug. The same compulsory ”itch” when I bought way too much makeup. I was going to get a new sunglasses holder for my car since the one I got (for free too!) was not in the same color scheme as the rest of my car.
Now did I really need a new one? No, because the old one worked just fine. I realized I was neglecting what I had, for the fleeting positive feeling of getting something new. In the end, I ignored the drive to purchase a new item and instead, using a marker to paint over the part that bothered me.
From that experience I have learned that sometimes we have to think creatively and logically before making a purchase. There is a chance that even if we think we are getting a good deal, we must realize that spending $0 is the better deal and having a clean/organized home is priceless.
God bless!
